Wonder Woman pilot for TV picked up...

Wonder Woman will fly this pilot season after all. New NBC entertainment president Bob Greenblatt capped a day of high-profile pilot pickups with a surprise order to David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman reboot. The project is described as a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman -- aka Diana Prince -- is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life. "I had a lot of fun writing it," Kelley said the script at TCA last week when the project had just been put on hold. "It's a huge project, and it was probably a bit too much to ask anyone to try to chew on it for next season. But I'm confident it will still happen. It's a very complicated piece, which is the most fun thing about it."
...Hmmm, I'm glad Wonder Woman is making a possible return to TV but, the concept and David E. Kelley (who's mostly known for legal comedy/dramas) make me nervous. Nobody wants extreme reinvention of the character (look what happened with the new costume reboot they tried last summer that they are now scrambling to fix). What we want is the same character just updated to fit with the faster pace of modern storytelling and with modern action and special effects. And the Wonder Woman character treated with respect by the production and taken seriously. Basically, it should look something like this...

I was worried we weren´t getting the Wonder Woman TV series, now I'm worried we are getting it!

The concept seems more adequate for a Bat character, like the Huntress, for instance. Well, the Huntress and the other Birds of Prey had their show... And it sucked!

This isn´t Wonder Woman, it's just a new character using the name "Wonder Woman". That's not what fans want..

Oh yes, the Birds of Prey TV show, I forgot about that monstrosity. Well, I can only hope that DC (who claims to want to have creative control on their properties) keeps things from getting out of hand. DC certainly knows what the fans thought and what the public thought of the recent changes to Wonder Woman. Minor changes are fine but major changes piss fans off. But the chances that this show will be done right are pretty slim.
