Tron...

"Tron; Legacy" starts this week but, let's not forget it's a sequel to the original "Tron." Before the Internet, before the Matrix, there was Tron. Tron was one of the first movies about being trapped within a digital virtual reality computer world. Tron was a huge big budget spectacular, combining optical effects with the "new" computer graphic effects available in 1982. Most of the glowing effects still stand up (the new movie uses light up clothing technology and of course the best CGI money can buy) but in 1982 this was new technology and took years to create and bring to the screen. Tron also had a fantastic blacklight free standing arcade game in local arcades, with kids going crazy to play. It obviously left it's mark because it's back again, updated for a new generation.
