Flash Gordon
FLASH! AH AHHHH! (music by Queen) Yes, who can forget the 1980's movie of "Flash Gordon" starring Sam J. Jones? (not to be confused with that other Sam Jones--Samantha Jones from "Sex and the City"--the only thing those two blondes have in common are their dark brown roots) I remember renting this movie as a kid, or seeing it every so often on tv, and loving it. Another "over-the-top" Dino De Laurentis production like his "Barbarella"---visually stunning, full of color, costumes and sexual tension. Sam had posed for Playgirl a few years before the movie, and it was a happy day when I finally saw his Playgirl layout decades later. Also, the original Flash Gordon comic strip---was amazing---and frankly, every comic book superhero owes A LOT to that strip. All of the elements of fantasy and good story telling are there. And certainly, people like George Lucas (and others) have admitted that it influenced his work on "Star Wars", etc. But that's for another post, another time. Now, it's time for Sam J. Jones and his hottness. Enjoy.
